Patricia (Patty) Lear-Johnson announces her candidacy for State Representative, Missouri House District 123

I am a resident of Belton, Missouri.  I am a wife, a mother and a grandmother.  I am an attorney who has practiced law for 26 years.  I have my own firm and my office is in Raymore, Missouri. My practice is centered on issues involving children and families.   I work as a guardian ad litem for children and I am a family law mediator.

I am proud to be a native Missourian.  I grew up on a farm in Saline County, Missouri.  My father, besides being a farmer, was a member of Operating Engineers Local 101.  I graduated from high school in Sweet Springs, Missouri attending classes in the same building as my father.

I graduated from the University of Missouri and obtained my law degree from UMKC.
My husband, Jerry Johnson is a Cass County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney and has been since 1996.  We will celebrate our 28th wedding anniversary this year.  Our son Josh, his wife Tracy and our granddaughter Rhianna live near us in Belton.  Jerry and Josh are veterans of the United States Air Force.  My father was in the Navy in World War II.  My mother worked as a secretary during the war at the Pratt Whitney plant in Kansas City.

Patty Johnson, Candidate for State Representative from Missouri District 123, with her family.My family is committed to our community.  We are members of the Bel-Ray Sunrise Lions Club.  Jerry is Past President and I was Secretary.  Jerry and I are members of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Raymore.  I currently serve on the Child Care Ministry Board and Scholarship committee.  I volunteer in the nursery one Sunday per month, teach Sunday School and Jerry and I serve as ushers.  I have served on the Staff Parish Relations Committee, chairing the committee for one year.  I have served on the fellowship committee. I currently chair, Esther Circle, the Church’s women’s group.

I have served on the Board of Directors for Hope Haven, Cass County’s Domestic Violence Shelter for three years.  I was elected President of the Board for 2010.  I have served on the Personnel and Finance committees of the Board and as secretary. 
I am a member of the Harrisonville Business Women, formerly Harrisonville Business and Professional Women.  I was president in 2007/2008 and continue as a director. I was honored as Woman of the Year by the Harrisonville Business Women in 2007.   I have been a speaker at the Girls Leadership Camp sponsored by the organization in 2008 and 2009.

As a small business owner and the daughter of a farmer and union member, I understand the value of hard work and the importance of the opportunity to have a good job.

I look forward to continuing my service and commitment to this community as your State Representative.
